Saturday November 29th between 10am and 5pm for not only mince pies and liquid refreshment, but also live seasonal music featuring our multi talented Bridget Skanski-Such, not on her machine, but playing her fiddle...

<span AS the season changes, we have had a complete redisplay of members and all other work in the lower gallery - what never fails to surprise is the subtle change of space and light downstairs each time we recreate order from the complete and utter chaos of moving and rehanging the entire contents!

<span month, but, engaged as I am in precision signwriting (at Volume 10), I may well be dealing swiftly with an unscheduled blob of paint before I am able to glance up and dispense my usual cheery (They sit still that long??)

Wendy creates stoneware ceramic figurines, with a definite quirk.
She studied 3D Design at Lincoln De Montfort University, but is self taught in ceramic techniques and finishes.

So, now we are ten, and looking forwards to the coming year with new Exhibitions, hard work, fresh ideas and a whole lot of laughter along the way... sad but true!

R.B.

ALL THINGS BRIGHT AND BEAUTIFUL (25th Feb 2008)

Anthony’s heart on the river of Cydnus…

“Fangled” is a word meaning love of “finery”, which is used by Posthumus Leonatus in “Cymbeline” when he describes how the world loves fashionable garments- thus in present day parlance, not much change there then!

A collaboration between Textile Artists Jenny Head and

Ann Rogers,
the work showcases a wide variety of techniques including machine embroidery, hand stitching, felting, lacework and elaborate embellishment, which are then translated into wearable textiles, bags, cushions and fans.

The inspiration for this unusual collection stems from a love of literature- and a favourite saying amongst Welsh women on hearing of the treatment of their sisters by an offending male – “Why diden’ you ‘ittim with you-er ambarg then?” thus giving rise to the question, which of Shakespeare’s heroines may have followed this most commendable course of action...?

<img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5074797364093726514" style="WIDTH: 249px;
